Happy Monday, ladies!
How was your weekend? We had a lovely time. Lots of fun, lots of music. I even saw a palm tree (we don't have those at home!), so I'd definitely consider the weekend a success. Now it's home & back to update coming later this evening!

friday night in sylacauga.
headed to charleston saturday morning.
the ladies sit in the back & do lady stuff, like make guitar string flowers & paint our fingernails. (not pictured)
we arrived in charleston just in time to catch this gorgeous sunset.
this jacket is actually going up for sale in the shop tonight, but i just couldn't bear the thought of sending it off to it's new home without taking it out for a test drive first. between the fringe jacket + the boobs dress, it was a very dolly partonish outfit. i'm ok with that.
local ipas. one for me. one for my female traveling companion.
beitthemeans saturday night at the tin roof in charleston. such a fun place. definitely worth a stop in if you are in town.
a lovely place to sleep for a few hours.
sigh. palm trees. i'm probably just going to have to move to place with some one day.
our fave mexican spot really goes all out. we like that in a place.
good stuff, i tell ya!

Hey ladies!
Today's blog post is a guest post from a blog reader of ours. Her name is Jackie Clark & she does outreach for the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance, a leading web resource for mesothelioma cancer. I thought her message was an extremely important one & wanted to share it with my readers. I hope you enjoy reading what she has to say as much as I did.

We are headed to Charleston in the morning with the band, but will be back Monday with a vintage shop update! We also have auctions ending while we are gone, so be sure to get your bids in on those here!

Have a lovely weekend.

Power of Vintage Fashion
By: Jackie Clark

Women like to look and feel beautiful and, while not many
are blessed with the near-perfect beauty of icons like Grace
Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, simply dressing in the styles of
days gone by will add a touch of glamour to how you look.

Vintage fashion allows women to not only look beautiful, but
to also express their inner beauty with a cute nostalgia. But
what exactly is vintage?

Vintage fashion is any clothing from a bygone era where the
style was influenced by societal norms and popular culture,
such as Hollywood and music. Conversely, vintage fashion
is also the new fashion of today, where individuality is key.

Looking beautiful is all about perception; what clothes a
woman wears, what accessories she adds, what make-up
she applies. By choosing vintage fashion, a woman can
borrow the beauty of another time, while exuding the
confidence of today.

Confidence is often what allows people to appear beautiful.
A confident woman holds herself in a way that clothes hang
effortlessly on her. To have the confidence to wear what you
want, rather than what society says you should be wearing,
allows a woman to express her unique beauty.

Unfortunately, there are many times in a woman’s life when
her confidence takes a battering. Being diagnosed with
cancer, such as asbestos-linked mesothelioma, can make a
woman feel unattractive in her own skin. When faced with a
less-than perfect prognosis, it is human nature to want to
retreat inside a shell. But it is also human nature to want to
feel beautiful, especially women. Vintage clothing can satisfy
that much-needed quest for beauty.

Vintage fashion is usually one-of-a-kind, or at the very least,
limited edition. There is nothing more beautiful than
originality, and knowing that the chances of anyone else
wearing the same outfit are so remote as to be almost

Yet it’s not just the look of vintage fashion that appears
beautiful. The elegant feel of the materials against the skin is
often reflected unknowingly in a woman’s expression.
Vintage clothing is as much about the fabrics and finish as it
is about the look. Silk, linen, wool and cottons are all natural
fibers that allow skin to breathe, and quality is indisputable
because vintage clothing has already passed the test of time.

As well as materials, vintage clothing often has exquisite
details, and these often not only emphasize the beauty of a
piece of clothing, but also bring attention to particular
features that show a woman’s beauty, such as the color of
eyes, or a bright smile, or a tiny waist. Such details include
boned bodices, bound buttonholes, silk linings, or piped
seams. These and other details of vintage fashion often add
a touch of class to both the clothes and the person wearing
